One of the more difficult concepts for me has been realizing I am not this body. Conceptually, it isn’t hard at all. I can understand I am Spirit yet when it comes right down to the physical experiences of life, looking in the mirror, having feelings and emotion, I have definitely struggled with the concept. Brown Landone gave me one way of looking at my body which I want to share with you. I must admit though, I cannot recall in which of his books I discovered this. None the less, the way he described it is worth sharing.
Landone talked about the fact that if you surgically remove an arm, it has nothing within it that will tell it to move. Yes, you can hook it to electricity and cause it to move. You can pull tendons and muscle and make it move. But the severed arm will not in and of itself do anything. It must have consciousness behind it to direct its movement. That consciousness is our true identity. It is not a body nor a body part. It is the I Am and the I Am is who you are.
